Our residents' needs include:

  • Transporting residents to various activities.
     
  • Performances (dance, music and singing)
     
  • Accompanying residents on outings and special events.
     
  • Computer skills training.
     
  • Providing clerical support.
     
  • Providing Pastoral Care Services.
     
  • Serving as a friendly visitor.
     
  • Intergenerational activities.
     
  • Pet therapy
     
  • Providing library services to residents.

 

HELP WANTED: VOLUNTEERS

The Preakness family is always ready to welcome new Volunteers.  If you would like to help someone by reading the paper or just taking a short walk, please do not hesitate to call me.    

We also have a piano in our Building 3 dining room just waiting for someone to come in to play it.  If you or anyone you know would like to play for our residents during their dinner hour or anytime during the day or early evening please don’t be shy.  Give us a call and we will work out a schedule for you.

 SUMMER HELP / VOLUNTEENS

Summer is also sneaking up on us.  If you have a son or daughter between the ages of 14 and 17 looking for something to do this summer, we have a Volunteen program in which they can come in and assist with programs for our residents. Students may also use this time to fulfill “Community Service” requirements.  The Auxiliary also has the “Margaret M. Statham” Scholarship for Volunteens.  Any Volunteen obtaining 250 hour or more before graduation is eligible for a $250 scholarship. 

THE PREAKNESS HOSPITAL AUXILIARY

 The Preakness Hospital Auxiliary recently held their annual Fashion Show/Trick Tray.  Thanks to all of our supporters this was our best year yet.

 Since the residents showed such interest in attending, the Auxiliary would like to hold a small Tricky Tray just for the residents.  If you have any new items (i.e. bath products, socks, hankies, CD’s, DVD’s etc.) home that you would like to donate, please contact us.  We are also in need of small baskets in which to make the prizes.
